Everybody’s spying

     On me, on them, on you!.

Everybody’s spying

      Because that’s what they do.

 

We only know they’re spying

     Through unofficial leaking

From disaffected agents

     Unwilling to keep sneaking.

 

It’s only through this Prism*

     Of unconfirmed reports

That we know what they’re doing;

     Though it still obscures their thoughts.

 

What do they want to know,

     These watchers of our acts?.

Why do they need to go

     Deep into private facts?.

 

Is it our security

     That motivates their scans,

Or some abusive policy

     Informing cryptic plans?.

 

Because they work in secret

     We cannot know their aims;

Nor can we evaluate

     The rightness of their claims.

 

Our leaders should be honest

      In telling us the facts.

We have a right to know

      About intrusive acts.

 

Everybody’s spying

     On me, on them, on you!.

Everybody’s spying

     Who’s nothing else to do!.
